Selection Criteria
The UdeM Exemption Scholarship selection process is an automatic, merit-based tuition reduction program that requires no separate application. For undergraduate students, selection is based entirely on academic excellence, with evaluations conducted through the transcripts submitted during admission. The scholarship uses a two-tier system, where students with exceptional academic performance receive Level A tuition reductions, and those with strong but slightly lower results receive Level B reductions. This streamlined approach ensures that every admitted international undergraduate student is automatically considered based on merit alone.
For graduate programs (Master’s and PhD), the process is equally straightforward and inclusive. All admitted international students automatically qualify for the exemption, with Master’s students receiving partial tuition reductions and PhD students obtaining full exemptions from additional international tuition fees. Unlike many other scholarships, there are no merit levels or separate applications required—making it a simple, transparent, and equitable process that rewards academic achievement while promoting access to high-quality education at one of Canada’s top francophone institutions.
