The Ernst Mach Follow-Up Grant (EZA) 2026 is a specialized research scholarship program funded by the Republic of Austria through the Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (BMFWF) and administered by OeAD-GmbH, Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation. This unique grant is specifically designed to maintain and strengthen long-term research partnerships between Austria and developing countries by enabling former OeAD scholarship recipients to return to Austria for short-term research visits.

The program recognizes that sustained international research collaboration requires ongoing engagement beyond initial scholarship periods, and therefore provides opportunities for postdoctoral researchers who previously received OeAD-administered grants to revisit Austria, continue collaborative projects, deepen partnerships with Austrian academic institutions, and further develop their research networks.

Benefits of the Scholarship

This scholarship provides comprehensive support including:

  • Monthly grant of EUR 1,300 for duration of 1-3 months
  • Assistance with accommodation arrangements through OeAD student housing (dormitory or apartment)
  • Help with health insurance arrangements accepted by Austrian authorities
  • Travel cost subsidy up to EUR 1,200 for scholarship holders with citizenship from non-European developing countries upon submission of original travel invoices
  • Opportunity to renew research collaborations with Austrian academic partners
  • Access to world-class Austrian research facilities and libraries
