The 2026 King’s College London Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS) offers a fully funded opportunity for exceptional students from low and lower-middle income Commonwealth countries to pursue full-time, on-campus Master’s degrees in high-impact health and research fields at King’s College London. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible low and lower-middle income Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • By September 2026, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second-class degree (2:2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)
  • Meet King’s College London’s academic and English language proficiency requirements for chosen program
  • Apply for one of the approved Master’s programmes at King’s College London (MSc Mental Health Studies, MSc Global Mental Health, MSc Palliative Care, or MRes Clinical Research)
  • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Commit to returning to home country after completing the degree to contribute to development
  • Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format by stated deadlines
  • Not be an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of the UK Government, Association of Commonwealth Universities, British Council, or Commonwealth Scholarship Commission

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and King’s College London employ a rigorous selection process evaluating candidates based on academic excellence demonstrated through strong first or upper second-class (2:1) honours degree or lower second-class (2:2) degree with relevant postgraduate qualification, potential for impact and contribution to home country development showing clear commitment to returning home and applying acquired knowledge and skills to address economic, social, or technological challenges in Commonwealth countries, financial need proving inability to afford UK study without scholarship support, quality and relevance of the proposed course of study to development priorities and alignment with CSC’s six development themes, strength of application materials including personal statements explaining motivations, career goals, and how the scholarship will enable meaningful contributions upon return, letters of recommendation from academic or professional referees who can attest to capabilities and potential, and English language proficiency meeting King’s College London requirements.
