The 2026 Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholarships at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) are fully funded awards designed to support outstanding students from low and middle income countries (LMICs) who aspire to make a meaningful contribution to global health, humanitarian action, and tropical medicine. Covering fees, living costs, flights, and visa requirements, these prestigious scholarships reflect LSTM’s deep commitment to training the next generation of health leaders from the world’s most underserved regions. More than one scholarship is available in each cycle, and awards are open to applicants for three of LSTM’s flagship on-campus Masters programmes.

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine is one of the world’s oldest and most respected institutions dedicated to tropical and global health. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be a national of a low or middle income country (LMIC) and ordinarily domiciled in an LMIC
  • Must intend to return to an LMIC upon completion of their studies at LSTM
  • Must be applying for one of the following full-time, on-campus Masters programmes at LSTM: Master of Public Health International, MSc Humanitarian Studies, or MSc Tropical and Infectious Diseases
  • Must hold a conditional offer from LSTM for their preferred course at the time of applying for the scholarship

Selection Criteria

Qualified students for the 2026 Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust Scholarships at LSTM will be selected based on the strength of their scholarship statement (maximum 700 words), in which applicants must demonstrate that they are an LMIC national ordinarily domiciled in an LMIC, clearly explain their academic goals and research interests in connection to their chosen LSTM course, and articulate the anticipated impact of their studies on their career, their capacity to reduce health inequality, and their potential for health leadership in their home country or region.
