Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this programme, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be a non-Chinese citizen with a valid foreign passport, in good physical and mental health, and hold a senior high school graduation certificate (or equivalent) by July 2026
  • Must have passed the new HSK Level 5 or above — applicants whose native language is Chinese or who can provide proof of attending a Chinese-medium high school may apply for HSK exemption
  • Must participate in and provide valid results from the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) Test, covering compulsory subjects (Professional Chinese – STEM and Mathematics) and one elective subject (Physics or Chemistry)
  • Emigrants from China’s mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan applying as international students must have obtained foreign citizenship and renounced Chinese nationality before April 30, 2022, and must have resided abroad for at least 2 years between April 30, 2022 and April 30, 2026
  • Applicants born abroad with one or both parents holding Chinese citizenship must provide supporting proof of permanent foreign residence, renunciation of Chinese nationality, or a PRC Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card
  • Applicants under 18 years old by September 1, 2026 must submit a Guardian Statement, and the guardian must reside in Hefei for the duration of the student’s studies at USTC

Selection Criteria

Qualified students for the 2026 USTC International Undergraduate Programme will be selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, CSCA test results, interview performance, and overall qualifications and certificates. Applicants who pass the initial document review will be notified by email and invited to proceed to the university assessment stage, after which final admission decisions will be communicated in June or July 2026.
