In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China’s exchange and cooperation with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities. The China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as “CSC”), entrusted by China’s Ministry of Education, is responsible for the admission, enrollment and administration of Chinese Government Scholarship recipients.
Founded in 1950 as the Chongqing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, CQUPT is a prominent public university in China’s fourth municipality—Chongqing—and was among the first 10 institutions in Sichuan Province authorized to offer postgraduate programs in 1965. The university is recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in the information industry, communications technology, and telecommunications fields. CQUPT’s modern campus covers 730 acres and serves over 24,000 students including more than 4,000 postgraduates, with a faculty of over 1,600 including renowned experts and fellows from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and international institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically.
- Be an academically excellent holder of a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a Master’s program.
- Be an academically excellent holder of a Master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a doctoral program.
- Language Proficiency Requirement:
English-taught programs: IELTS≧6.5 or TOEFL≧80 or equivalent or Native English speakers. Applicants who could not provide the above mentioned English test results will be required to attend the English test organized by CQUPT
Chinese-taught programs: HSK 4 or above. Applicants who have HSK 5 or above can apply for the major study directly, those who have HSK 4 can apply to take Chinese language training courses for one year, and then move on to their degree study after meeting the requirement.

Selection Criteria
CQUPT scholarship selection emphasizes academic excellence, program fit, and potential for success. Applications are evaluated based on academic transcripts showing strong performance in previous studies, quality of study plans or research proposals (master’s candidates: minimum 1,000 words; doctoral candidates: minimum 1,500 words) demonstrating clear research objectives and methodology, recommendation letters from professors attesting to academic abilities and character (required for postgraduate programs), language proficiency appropriate for chosen program, and overall application completeness and quality.
