The Ontario Graduate Scholarship offers two major scholarship programs supporting international graduate students studying in Ontario, Canada’s most populous province and home to world-renowned universities. The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), established in 1975, provides merit-based scholarships to excellent graduate students (master’s and doctoral) studying at publicly-assisted Ontario universities, with dedicated allocations for international students holding valid study permits. The OGS awards $15,000 per year (for three academic sessions) or $10,000 per year (for two sessions), with universities contributing one-third of the total award cost.
Ontario universities consistently rank among global top institutions, offering cutting-edge facilities, distinguished faculty, and vibrant multicultural environments. As Canada’s largest province by population and economic output, Ontario provides international students with exceptional quality of life, safe communities, diverse cultural experiences, and strong post-graduation employment opportunities through pathways like the Post-Graduate Work Permit and Provincial Nominee Program. The province’s commitment to internationalization and academic excellence makes it an attractive destination for graduate studies, while scholarship programs like OTS and OGS remove financial barriers for talented students worldwide.
