The Canadian International Development Scholarships 2030 (BCDI 2030) is a comprehensive international development program funded by Global Affairs Canada with $80 million CAD over eight years, leveraging higher education to strengthen social and economic development in 26 eligible countries across the Francophonie, Commonwealth, and Small Island Developing States. The program operates through two streams: Stream 1 provides approximately 600 full scholarships for studies and training in Canada at participating Canadian universities and colleges, while Stream 2 delivers customized training through institutional partnerships in partner countries. Scholars gain skills and knowledge through inclusive, equitable, high-quality education before returning home as agents of change in their communities.

Jointly administered by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and Universities Canada in partnership with the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), and Association of African Universities (AAU), BCDI 2030 addresses inequality through education while ensuring programs are tailored to partner countries’ labour market and development needs. Participating Canadian institutions span the country including University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Manitoba, Lakehead University, Queen’s University, University of Ottawa, Université de Montréal, Université Laval, Université de Sherbrooke, Université du Québec system, Memorial University, Dalhousie University, and various colleges including Nova Scotia Community College, Fanshawe College, Marine Institute, and others.
