The Empowering Futures Scholarship is a prestigious, fully funded scholarship offered by Imperial College Business School in proud partnership with MUFG Investor Services a division of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG), one of the world’s largest and most influential banking institutions to support academically outstanding students who come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds or are first-generation university students entering the MSc Finance programme for the 2026/27 academic year. Covering full tuition fees and a maintenance grant to support living expenses, the scholarship is designed to break down the financial barriers that often prevent talented and driven individuals from accessing one of the world’s leading finance postgraduate programmes.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be applying to the MSc Finance programme at Imperial College Business School for the 2026/27 academic year
- Must be a Home or Overseas (International) student
- Must be a first-generation university student
- Must have applied for admission to the MSc Finance programme during Round 1 or Round 2 of the admissions cycle and received a confirmed offer of a place before being eligible for scholarship consideration
- Must demonstrate a strong academic background and potential for future success
- Must be able to demonstrate a track record of professional excellence and achievement through internships and/or relevant work experience
- Must demonstrate exceptional communication skills and be prepared to participate in a scholarship interview as part of the selection process
- Must be able to articulate clearly how they have navigated financial challenges in their pursuit of education or explain their experience as a first-generation student
- This scholarship is not available to continuing students — only new applicants commencing their MSc Finance studies in autumn 2026 are eligible

Selection Criteria
The Empowering Futures Scholarship selection process is conducted in two stages and places equal weight on academic excellence, professional potential, and personal background. In the first stage, all eligible MSc Finance applicants who have received a confirmed offer and applied during Round 1 or Round 2 are reviewed by the Imperial Business School scholarship committee, which assesses candidates based on the strength of their academic record, the quality of their personal statement, and the extent to which their background aligns with the scholarship’s mission of empowering first-generation or financially disadvantaged students.
