The STAR “Students at Risk” Scholarship is a competitive funding programme offered by the University of Brescia to support talented non-EU international students from developing and priority countries who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Italy. For the 2026/2027 academic year, only 4 STAR scholarships are available, making this one of the most selective and prestigious funding opportunities in Italy for students from vulnerable or conflict-affected regions. The scholarship provides a financial grant of €6,132.10, full tuition fee exemption from the second and third instalments, free on-campus accommodation, subsidised meals, a transport pass, and health insurance support, covering the most significant costs associated with studying and living in northern Italy. Applications must be submitted online through the official PICA platform before the deadline of March 15, 2026 at noon Italian time.

The University of Brescia, known in Italian as Università degli Studi di Brescia (UNIBS), is a public research university founded in 1982 and located in Brescia, a vibrant and economically dynamic city in the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Recognised for its strengths in engineering, economics, law, and medicine, UNIBS offers a modern and internationally oriented academic environment within one of Italy’s most prosperous and well-connected regions, with easy rail access to Milan and the wider northern Italian academic and industrial corridor. The university’s STAR scholarship programme reflects its strong commitment to international solidarity and its recognition that access to quality higher education must be extended to students whose academic potential is constrained by circumstances of political instability, economic vulnerability, or humanitarian risk in their home countries.
