The UWA Global Excellence Scholarship is the University of Western Australia’s flagship merit-based tuition discount scholarship for high-achieving international students from all countries who choose to study at UWA in 2026. The scholarship is an annual tuition fee discount applied automatically for the normal full-time duration of the awardee’s enrolled course, with no separate scholarship application required. The value of the scholarship is determined entirely by the applicant’s equivalent Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for undergraduate applicants, or their UWA Weighted Average Mark (WAM) for postgraduate applicants, and ranges from AUD$6,000 to AUD$12,000 per year. Over the full duration of an eligible programme, total scholarship value can reach up to AUD$48,000 for four-year undergraduate degrees, up to AUD$36,000 for three-year undergraduate degrees, and up to AUD$24,000 for two-year postgraduate coursework degrees.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be an international student from any country
- Must have received an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate coursework course commencing in 2026 at UWA
- For undergraduate applicants: must have achieved a minimum equivalent ATAR of 85.00
- For postgraduate applicants: must have achieved a minimum equivalent WAM of 65.00
- Must be enrolled in an eligible undergraduate Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate coursework programme at UWA
- Must maintain satisfactory academic progress and full-time enrolment throughout the duration of the scholarship to retain the annual tuition fee discount
- International qualification equivalencies are assessed according to UWA’s international qualifications conversion table; other qualifications are considered on an individual basis

Selection Criteria
The Global Excellence Scholarship is awarded purely on the basis of academic merit, with no interview, essay, or separate application process required. The scholarship value is determined directly by the applicant’s equivalent ATAR score (undergraduate) or WAM (postgraduate), as assessed by UWA Admissions upon submission of the academic transcript. Higher scores result in higher annual scholarship values, ranging from AUD$6,000 per year for an ATAR of 85.00 to 89.95 or WAM of 65.00 to 74.99, up to AUD$12,000 per year for an ATAR of 98.00 or above, or a WAM of 85.00 or above. The final award is confirmed in the applicant’s letter of offer from UWA.
