Franklin University Switzerland offers a comprehensive range of merit-based and need-based scholarships and financial aid packages to support degree-seeking students in pursuing their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at its Lugano campus. Merit scholarships are awarded automatically at the point of admission based on academic achievements in high school and transferable undergraduate work, with awards ranging from CHF 1,000 to CHF 6,000 per year depending on the student’s tuition rate category. Priority is given to students who apply by the December 1 deadline, and successful applicants are notified of their scholarship award directly in their acceptance letter.

Benefits of the Scholarship

This scholarship will provide the following to its recipients:

  • Merit scholarships ranging from CHF 1,000 to CHF 6,000 per year
  • Automatically considered at the point of admission for all undergraduate applicants
  • Merit scholarships renewable for up to 7 semesters or until graduation, whichever comes first
  • Need-based scholarships available in addition to merit awards, subject to demonstrated financial need and availability
  • SUNY FUS 2+2 Jacques Villaret International Education Award: variable award between $5,000 and $10,000 for students transferring from a SUNY Community College
  • Ann Gardiner Award: $2,500 to $5,000 for students in all undergraduate programmes leading to MA or MSIM
  • Federal Direct Loans available for US citizens and eligible non-citizens through FAFSA

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be a degree-seeking student admitted to a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme at Franklin University Switzerland
  • Merit scholarships are automatically considered for all admitted undergraduate applicants based on academic achievements in high school and transferable undergraduate work, with no separate scholarship application required
  • For need-based financial aid: must submit the Franklin Financial Aid Application or FAFSA with supporting documentation for a final determination
  • Merit scholarships are renewable for 7 semesters or until graduation, provided the student maintains satisfactory academic standing and full-time enrolment
  • LLLS Programme: must be enrolled full-time (minimum 4 semester courses), have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher, and maintain a student account in good standing
  • SUNY FUS 2+2 Award: must have completed a two-year programme at one of 40 eligible SUNY Community Colleges with excellent academic history and demonstrated financial need, enrolled full-time and living in on-campus housing
  • Ann Gardiner Award: open to all students enrolled in undergraduate programmes leading to MA or MSIM; deadline November 15
  • Franklin institutional aid is awarded to full-time degree-seeking students only and cannot be applied toward one or two semesters of study or for students enrolled only in summer semester

Merit scholarships are awarded at the point of admission based on the overall strength of the academic record, with priority given to students who apply by the December 1 priority deadline, while need-based awards require submission of supporting financial documentation including tax and income information, with award letters sent on a rolling basis within approximately two weeks of all required documents being received.
