The A.G. Leventis Foundation Educational Grant is a prestigious annual scholarship programme designed to provide financial support to outstanding postgraduate and doctoral students pursuing studies in any field, including the Humanities, Social Sciences, Technology, Arts, Natural Sciences, Medicine, and Business. The grant is offered on an annual basis and is paid in two equal instalments in late November and late February of each academic year directly to the scholar’s bank account, with funding available for a maximum cumulative period of three academic years. Applications are accepted exclusively between the 1st and 31st of March each year, with results communicated to all applicants by the end of August, and the grant amount varies by country of study, aimed at covering part of the student’s expenses rather than the full cost. Postdoctoral research and undergraduate or distance learning studies are not included in the scheme.
The A.G. Leventis Foundation was established in May 1979, realising the vision of Cypriot entrepreneur Anastasios G. Leventis (1902–1978), whose founding objectives centred on society, education, and culture. Over more than four decades, the Foundation has granted over 6,000 scholarships internationally and continues to support a wide range of projects spanning heritage conservation, environmental conservation, museums and libraries, humanitarian aid, medical research, and cultural initiatives, with affiliated organisations in Cyprus, Greece, Nigeria, and beyond. Through its Educational Grants Scheme, the Foundation remains firmly committed to nurturing the next generation of scholars and advancing access to quality postgraduate education worldwide.
