Selection Criteria
The University of Canberra Research Scholarships are awarded through a rigorous, multi-stage ranking process in which applications are first assessed for completeness and eligibility for PhD admission, then forwarded to the relevant faculties where academic staff evaluate and rank each applicant in order of merit based on academic qualifications, strategic alignment with UC’s research priorities, the quality of the research proposal, and research experience including publications; the University Research Scholarship Committee subsequently reviews the faculties’ rankings and allocates the limited number of available scholarships to the highest-ranked applicants in order of merit, with fewer than 10% of applicants receiving an award in previous rounds, making early and thorough preparation of all application materials essential.
