Abu Dhabi University (ADU) offers a comprehensive multi-tiered scholarship programme for the 2026/27 academic year, available to both international students from around the world and UAE residents, across Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degree programmes in almost all academic fields. The scholarship portfolio ranges from partial tuition waivers to fully funded awards most notably the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Scholarship and the Chairman’s Scholarship, both of which cover 100% of tuition fees, application fees, registration fees, student services fees, and health service fees. Additional scholarship categories include the Abu Dhabi University Scholarship offering 15% to 50% tuition waivers for UAE residents and GCC candidates, the Academic Scholarship (20% tuition waiver for high-performing continuing students), the Athletic Scholarship (25% waiver for continuing students excelling in sports), the Merit-Based Graduate Scholarship (25% waiver for postgraduate students with a CGPA of at least 3.5), and the Alumni Scholarship (20% waiver for continuing graduate studies).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • All international students as well as UAE residents are eligible; eligibility criteria vary by scholarship type
  • Must hold a High School Certificate to apply for a Bachelor’s degree programme
  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale to apply for a Master’s degree programme
  • Must hold a Master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale to apply for a PhD programme; PhD applicants must also have at least 2 years of full-time professional experience
  • For the Merit-Based Graduate Scholarship: must have an undergraduate CGPA of at least 3.5 and maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 throughout the Master’s programme
  • For the Academic Scholarship: must be a continuing ADU student maintaining a minimum CGPA of 3.60 for two consecutive semesters and be registered full-time (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • For the Alumni Scholarship: must be an ADU graduate and maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.0 in the postgraduate programme
  • Must submit required documents including certified academic transcripts, passport copy, English proficiency certificate (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, EmSAT, or equivalent), and any additional documents specified per scholarship type

Selection Criteria

Abu Dhabi University scholarships are awarded through a merit-based review process that begins automatically upon admission, with the university processing each student’s academic records and populating their online portal account with any scholarships for which they qualify students then complete the online application for eligible awards without needing to seek separate nominations; fully funded awards such as the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Scholarship and the Chairman’s Scholarship are reserved for the highest-achieving applicants globally and carry very limited seats per intake, while partial awards are assessed based on academic performance including CGPA, athletic achievement, alumni status, and family enrolment, with all applications reviewed and communicated through the ADU student portal in line with semester registration deadlines.
