Chulalongkorn University has established the Graduate Scholarship Programme for ASEAN or Non-ASEAN Countries to provide financial assistance to international students who wish to pursue graduate studies at one of Thailand’s oldest and most prestigious universities. The programme is open to students from both ASEAN and non-ASEAN countries with no nationality restrictions, covering Master’s and Doctoral degree programmes across nearly all academic disciplines including engineering, science, business, law, social sciences, public health, communication, and environmental studies. Applicants must be screened and recruited by the Faculty or Programme of their choice before their names are forwarded to the Office of Academic Affairs at Chulalongkorn University, and the Office of Academic Affairs does not accept direct applications from applicants.

Benefits of the Scholarship

This scholarship will provide the following to its recipients:

  • Economy class round-trip airfare reimbursed upon arrival at Chulalongkorn University, with maximum limits per leg of trip as follows: ASEAN countries 8,500 Baht, Asian countries 12,000 Baht, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Africa 20,000 Baht, North and South America 30,000 Baht
  • Full tuition fees (special fees charged by the Faculty or Programme are excluded)
  • Monthly stipend of 16,000 Baht to cover living and accommodation expenses

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be an international graduate student from an ASEAN or non-ASEAN country
  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a field related to the field of application
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 for undergraduate studies and 3.25 for graduate studies
  • Must not be over 35 years of age
  • Must demonstrate English proficiency with a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (or 173 computer-based) or IELTS score of 5.0
  • Must be in good health
  • Students from ASEAN or non-ASEAN countries who have been studying in any programme at Chulalongkorn University for more than one semester are not eligible
  • Faculty members, researchers, and academic staff who will return to teach or work at their home universities after graduation from Chulalongkorn University are preferred
  • Recipients are not allowed to accept off-campus employment in Thailand during the term of the scholarship
  • The term of the scholarship cannot be extended and recipients are not allowed to defer the scholarship once granted

Selection Criteria

Applicants must be screened and recruited by the Faculty or Programme of their choice before their documents are forwarded to the Office of Academic Affairs at Chulalongkorn University, with each Faculty and Programme setting its own application deadline and selection schedule, and applicants advised to send their application form and relevant documents to their chosen Faculty or Programme at least two weeks prior to the deadline set by the University’s Office of Academic Affairs, after which successful candidates are announced on the official academic affairs website.
