Jönköping University (JU) in Sweden offers a limited number of scholarships to international students who are required to pay tuition fees and who fulfil the scholarship requirements and are assessed to be able to complete their studies adequately. The scholarship is offered on the basis of academic merit, with an emphasis on academic excellence, and covers 30% of the tuition fee for the programme the student has been admitted to. The scholarship application for programmes starting in Autumn 2026 is open from October 16, 2025 to May 2, 2026, and applications are submitted through the university’s online application portal. Scholarship applications are only processed after the corresponding programme application has been completed and all required documents have been submitted, whether through the central national university admissions system or through the JU Direct Application.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be a citizen of a country required to pay tuition fees in Sweden. Note: students do not need to reside in their country of citizenship at the time of application
- Must be required to pay tuition fees for studies at Jönköping University
- Must have selected a programme at Jönköping University as their first choice when applying via universityadmissions.se, or have applied through the JU Direct Application
- Must have applied to a bachelor’s or master’s level programme offered on-site at Jönköping University by the scholarship application deadline
- Must submit a complete scholarship application by the deadline of May 2, 2026
- Must not combine the JU scholarship with scholarships offered through agreements between JU and organisations such as FIDERH, FUNED in Mexico, or COLFUTURO in Colombia

Selection Criteria
The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, with an emphasis on academic excellence. The awarding of the scholarship will be notified by the university by May 7, 2026, or shortly thereafter. Awarded students are required to confirm acceptance of the scholarship within the stipulated time, failing which the scholarship offer will be revoked. The scholarship application must include a study application number, a letter of recommendation from a former teacher or employer, an individual statement of no more than 200 words covering educational experience and career plans, and the same email address used in the programme application.
