The Singapore International Pre-Graduate Award (SIPGA) gives international students the unique opportunity to experience the vibrant scientific environment and work with world-renowned researchers at A*STAR’s Research Entities. Students who are pursuing their bachelor’s or master’s degree in computing and information science, Biomedical Science, Physical Science or Engineering and Technology can apply for attachments of two to six months in duration. 

SIPGA awardees will pursue their attachment at an A*STAR Research Institute. You may find out more about the capabilities of the A*STAR Research Entities. Research areas available under SIPGA fall broadly into four categories – Biomedical Sciences (BMS), Physical Sciences (PS), Computing and Information Sciences (CIT), and Engineering and Technology (E&T).

It plays a central role in fostering innovation and scientific excellence, contributing to Singapore’s position as a global hub for research and development. As research is increasingly interdisciplinary, we encourage you to consider projects in all categories regardless of your prior research experience

Benefits of The Scholarship

Awardees are provided with the following during their attachment in Singapore:

  • Monthly stipend of S$2,000
  • Academic Support

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to international 3rd and 4th year undergraduate and master’s students from overseas universities in STEM courses
  • Obtained/on track to obtain at least a Second-Class (Upper) Honours or equivalent for bachelor’s degree
  • Students must remain matriculated in their home university during the attachment period
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Strong interest in a research career

NOTE

The above eligibility criteria are not exhaustive. A*STAR may include additional selection criteria based on prevailing scholarship policies. 

Selection Criteria

Applicants who have been nominated by A*STAR researchers will be assessed on a competitive basis for award. Successful applicants will be notified within 2 months after the application deadline.
