The University of Manchester’s Global Futures Scholarships for September 2026 offer financial support to outstanding African students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Undergraduate applicants from countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Zimbabwe can receive up to £30,000 (£10,000 annually for three years) as a tuition fee discount, while postgraduate students, including those from Egypt, are eligible for scholarships worth up to £18,000. Applicants must first secure an academic offer from the university before accessing the scholarship application process, making this a highly competitive and merit-based opportunity.

Benefits of the Scholarship
This scholarship will provide the following to its recipients:
For Undergraduate Students
- Tuition fees
- The value of the scholarship is up to £30,000 (£10,000 per year over three years) for undergraduate programme at the University of Manchester.
For Master’s Students
- Tuition fees
- The value of the scholarship is up to £318,000 for master’s programme at the University of Manchester.
These funds can also be used by the students to cover:
- Accommodation
- Food
- Books and instructional materials
- Medical cost
- Travel expenses
- Research grant
- Transportation cost
For PhD
For PhDs, the University offers a number of competitive bursaries via individual Schools and research groups for well-qualified candidates. Please check with your prospective academic School for details and check the University’s postgraduate research funding database.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants should:
- Applications will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in the countries listed.
- To be considered as domiciled in these countries, applicants must have predominantly resided there during the last three years.
- We consider your permanent country of residence to be the country you’re ordinarily resident, not a country where you’re only living for full-time education.
- For undergraduate must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2026 and have, or be working towards, one of the following qualifications: A-levels, IB Diploma, South African NSC or IEB and NCUK International Foundation Year.
- You must be self-funded (not sponsored).
- For undergraduate, you must have selected the University of Manchester as your ‘Firm’ UCAS choice by 25 May 2026.
- The award applies only to full-time courses delivered at The University of Manchester’s UK campus.
- For masters- students, you must hold an unconditional offer to study a full-time, on-campus master’s course at The University of Manchester starting in September 2026 by 23 April 2026.
- Submit an online scholarship application form by the same deadline. The form will be emailed to all eligible offer-holders.

Selection Criteria
To be selected for this, applicants will be assessed on:
For undergraduate: Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence, predicted and achieved grades, and your online application form, which will be emailed to all eligible offer-holders.
For masters: You will be considered based on academic merit and the quality of your scholarship application, but the section committee will try to achieve a balance by gender, domicile and course in the allocation of the awards.
