To encourage and reward high-achieving international students, Dalarna University offers two main scholarships for master’s applicants who are fee-payers (non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals). The Choose Dalarna First Scholarship gives a one-time tuition fee reduction of SEK 5,000 for the first semester; eligibility requires applicants to list a DU master’s programme as their first choice on UniversityAdmissions.se and submit the scholarship application by the prescribed deadline. The Academic Excellence Scholarship is performance-based and ongoing: each semester students can apply for a semester award (SEK 5,000-15,000 depending on programme) if they meet criteria such as completing all required credits, achieving top grades, and maintaining good academic standing. Those who succeed every semester may also qualify for a “programme distinction” bonus at the end of their studies.
Dalarna University (DU), located in the region of Dalarna in central Sweden, is known for offering international education with a strong practical and interdisciplinary orientation. With campuses in Borlänge and Falun, the university provides a wide range of master’s programmes taught in English, particularly responsive to global challenges such as sustainability, technology, energy, and social development. DU emphasizes student support both academically and socially with offerings like language assistance, robust introduction programs, and good connections to industry and local communities.
