The late Professor Dr. Heinrich Medicus, who served at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Albany, established a lasting scholarship initiative through a stock endowment to the Swiss Benevolent Society of New York. This endowment created an academic exchange pathway connecting Switzerland and the United States, designed specifically for deserving candidates from both nations.
The Medicus Student and Scholar Exchange Initiative administered in Switzerland provides financial assistance to Swiss postgraduate scholars, doctoral researchers, university instructors, and academic professionals from Swiss institutions who seek to undertake educational programs or scholarly work at recognized American universities and research centers. This program facilitates partial funding support, enabling Swiss academics to advance their educational pursuits and research endeavors in American institutions while strengthening bilateral academic cooperation between Swiss and American scholarly communities.
