The Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships (AAPS) 2026 is a prestigious fully funded scholarship program administered by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The program provides opportunities for Pacific island citizens to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at selected Pacific regional institutions outside Australia. AAPS aims to contribute to the long-term development needs of Australia’s partner countries in line with Australia’s aid priorities and bilateral and regional agreements. The program develops leadership potential and stimulates lasting change by empowering a global network of talented individuals.

Through quality and relevant education in the Pacific region, AAPS recipients return home with new skills, ideas, and knowledge to make significant contributions as leaders in their respective fields. The scholarships are offered at participating institutions including the University of the South Pacific (USP), Fiji National University (FNU), and the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). This comprehensive support enables students to focus fully on their studies while building expertise and fostering enduring people-to-people links within the Pacific region.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

Be a citizen of and a resident in the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships participating country
Not have or be entitled to permanent residence in Australia; and not be married or engaged to be married to a person who holds or is eligible to hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residence status
Meet specific eligibility criteria imposed by the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship
Satisfy the host government’s immigration requirements for regional students
Not hold another scholarship during the period of the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship
Not be transferring from another scholarship
Not hold or have held an Australian Government scholarship in the two years preceding the proposed time of commencement of the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarship.

Be a minimum of 18 years of age on February 1 of the year commencing the scholarship.
