The Krishnan-Ang Studentship for Overseas Students in the Natural Sciences is a prestigious fully funded doctoral scholarship offered by Trinity College, University of Cambridge, to support outstanding overseas students pursuing PhD studies in Natural Sciences. The studentships are funded by generous donations from Eashwar Viswanathan Krishnan and Tzo Tze Ang, who were both undergraduates at Trinity College—Eashwar read Natural Sciences (Matric. 1996) and Tzo Tze read Electrical & Information Sciences (Matric. 1997).
Trinity College, founded in 1546 by King Henry VIII, is the largest and wealthiest college at the University of Cambridge and has been home to some of history’s greatest minds, including Sir Isaac Newton, Lord Byron, and numerous Nobel laureates. The first Krishnan-Ang awards were made in 2008, and graduates from the Krishnan-Ang studentship program now constitute a cohort of over 30 individuals working at premier academic, corporate, and research institutions worldwide.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this studentship, applicants must:
- Be an overseas (outside UK and EU) graduate student
- Have applied for admission, or already received an offer of admission, to a PhD degree in any STEMM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) at the University of Cambridge
- Must not yet have been a graduate or undergraduate student at the University of Cambridge
- Demonstrate exceptional academic performance with excellent undergraduate and/or postgraduate results
- Show strong research potential in the Natural Sciences or STEMM fields
- Meet the University of Cambridge’s standard admission requirements for PhD study
- Be willing to become a member of Trinity College upon taking up the Studentship

Selection Criteria
The Trinity College selection committee assesses applicants through a holistic evaluation process based on the following criteria: academic excellence, demonstrated by an outstanding undergraduate and/or postgraduate record in Natural Sciences or related STEMM fields; research potential, evidenced by the ability to carry out high-quality doctoral research; the quality and feasibility of the research proposal, ensuring alignment with the Natural Sciences or STEMM disciplines; strong academic references from reputable referees; and the overall strength of the application, reflecting the candidate’s suitability for doctoral study at the University of Cambridge and their potential to make meaningful contributions to the scholarly community at Trinity College.
