The NL Scholarship (formerly Holland Scholarship) is a mobility scholarship program designed to support current Dutch students studying at participating universities and universities of applied sciences (hogescholen) who wish to undertake study, internship, or research abroad outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The scholarship aims to promote international experience and global competence among Dutch students by providing financial support for their international educational activities. This one-time grant helps offset costs associated with studying, interning, or conducting research abroad, making international opportunities more accessible to students enrolled at Dutch higher education institutions.
The NL Scholarship program is managed by individual participating institutions, each of which sets its own selection criteria and application deadlines. The scholarship supports students undertaking substantial international experiences of at least 10 ECTS credits and meeting their institution’s minimum duration requirements (never less than 7 weeks). Eligibility Criteria

Selection Criteria
The NL Scholarship selection process is determined by each participating educational institution individually. Each university or hogeschool establishes its own selection criteria for awarding the scholarship, which may include factors such as academic merit, motivation for international study, quality of the proposed study or internship program abroad, relevance to the student’s degree program, and financial need. Students must be enrolled full-time and planning international activities outside the European Economic Area that meet the minimum ECTS requirement (10 credits) and duration requirement (at least 7 weeks, or longer as specified by the institution). The selection committees at each institution evaluate applications based on their established criteria and available funding.
