The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) Scholarship for International Students is a prestigious fully funded scholarship program designed to sponsor young talents from all over the world to pursue Master’s or Doctoral degrees, attend courses, conduct research, or pay academic visits at UCAS colleges and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) institutes. The scholarship also encourages international graduate students currently studying at foreign universities to come for study on joint programs.

The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) is the graduate school of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China’s leading scientific research organization with over 100 affiliated institutes nationwide. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • NOT hold Chinese citizenship with a valid foreign passport
  • Be friendly to China and abide by the laws and decrees of China, and UCAS rules and regulations
  • Get acceptance by a host supervisor and approval by the UCAS faculty/CAS institute that the supervisor is affiliated with
  • Have an appropriate attitude toward learning and scientific research and have outstanding academic performance
  • Have not accepted any other sponsorship at the time of application
  • Meet the admission criteria for international students of UCAS

Selection Criteria

The UCAS scholarship selection process is highly competitive and based on a comprehensive evaluation of several key factors: academic excellence, demonstrated through outstanding academic performance, transcripts, and records; research potential, reflected in a strong, well-developed research proposal and proven ability to conduct high-quality research; and supervisor approval, requiring acceptance by an eligible host supervisor affiliated with a UCAS faculty or CAS institute. Candidates must also obtain an institutional recommendation from their host UCAS school or CAS institute.

In addition, the supervisor assesses the applicant’s academic ability in accordance with institutional regulations, and two or three subject experts may be invited to conduct a video or telephone interview, or the applicant may be required to complete a written examination.
