The Rotary Peace Fellowship is a fully funded fellowship program offered by Rotary International that increases the capacity of existing leaders to prevent and resolve conflict by offering academic training, field experience, and professional networking. The fellowship covers tuition and living expenses, enabling fellows to focus entirely on their studies and professional development in peace and development studies.
Up to 90 fellows are selected every year in a globally competitive process based on personal, academic, and professional achievements. Fellows earn either a master’s degree or a post-graduate diploma in peace and development studies at one of the Rotary Peace Centers, located at leading universities around the world. Over 1,600 program alumni are working in more than 140 countries as leaders in national governments, nongovernmental organizations, education and research, law enforcement, and international organizations such as the United Nations.

Professional Development Certificate Program:

- Blended learning format: online learning, in-person classes, and independent project
- Two-week online preliminary course
- 10 weeks of on-site courses with field studies
- Nine-month period for implementing a social change initiative (with interactive online sessions)

- Post-graduate diploma or certificate in peace and development studies

Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements for All Applicants:
- Have a bachelor’s degree
- Be proficient in English
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Have a strong commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace
- Have at least three years between completion of most recent academic degree (undergraduate or graduate) and intended fellowship start date
- NOT currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- Have three years of related work experience in peace and conflict resolution fields (for master’s degree program)
For Professional Development Certificate Program:
- Have five years of related work experience in peace-related fields
- Be able to explain how their plan to promote peace aligns with Rotary’s mission

Selection Criteria
The Rotary Peace Fellowship selection process is highly competitive and based on a global evaluation of several key criteria: personal achievements, demonstrated through a sustained commitment to peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and social change; academic achievements, reflected in a strong educational record and intellectual ability suited for graduate-level study; and professional achievements, including three to five years of relevant work experience in peace and development fields, depending on the program.
