The McCall MacBain Scholarships unite outstanding students who endeavor to participate in meaningful transformation by assuming significant leadership responsibilities. McCall MacBain Scholars engage with mentors and partake in an interdisciplinary leadership curriculum while pursuing comprehensive funded master’s or professional credentials at McGill University, Canada’s premier institution located in Montreal, Quebec.

Established through a transformative $200 million endowment from John and Marcy McCall MacBain in 2019, this flagship scholarship initiative represents Canada’s most substantial leadership-oriented funding program for graduate and professional studies. The scholarship extends beyond conventional academic financing by cultivating a comprehensive environment encompassing academic distinction, leadership advancement, mentorship connections, and community participation.

Benefits of the Scholarship

This scholarship will provide the following comprehensive support to recipients:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet ONE of the following academic criteria:

  • Be a current student on track to complete first bachelor’s degree by August 2026
  • Have earned first bachelor’s degree in the last five years
  • Have earned first bachelor’s degree more than five years ago and be 30 years or younger on January 1, 2025
  • Plan to apply for Summer/Fall 2026 admission to a full-time master’s or second-entry professional undergraduate program at McGill University
  • Choose a program consisting of 45 credits or more taking place primarily on McGill’s downtown or Macdonald campuses
  • Meet minimum degree and language requirements for McGill master’s program admission

Selection Criteria

The McCall MacBain Scholarships selection process is rigorous and multi-phased, involving an initial application review, regional interviews for shortlisted candidates, and final interviews in Montreal for approximately 85 finalists.
