Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- NOT be a domestic student, as defined as being a student who is:
- An Australian citizen, OR
- An Australian permanent resident or holder of an Australian Permanent Humanitarian visa, OR
- A New Zealand citizen
- Be commencing or enrolled in a HDR program at Griffith University
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree with First Class Honours or be regarded by Griffith University as having an equivalent level of attainment
- Have not completed a degree at the same or higher level as the HDR program to which the applicant is commencing or enrolled in
- If seeking recognition for prior candidature in the HDR program, have not completed more than 12 months (equivalent full-time) of candidature at Griffith University or another Australian or overseas institution
- Have not previously held the same or an equivalent scholarship unless:
- It was terminated within six months of the scholarship’s payments commencing, OR
- It was held for a degree at a lower level to which the applicant is applying, OR
- The applicant is applying to transfer the scholarship

Selection Criteria
The University’s HDR Scholarship Committee evaluates and ranks eligible applicants according to a University-wide Order of Merit List, considering academic merit demonstrated through prior research-based qualifications, the international reputation of the awarding institution, the quality and impact of research outputs and the applicant’s contributions to them, the depth and relevance of sustained research experience, and the overall strength, clarity, and feasibility of the proposed research project.
