The International Excellence Postgraduate Scholarship is available to all students who demonstrate academic excellence or show potential studying at Swansea University. Each year, Swansea University has a number of International Excellence Scholarships available for students who have already demonstrated academic excellence or show potential to do so during their time at Swansea University.
Scholarships are awarded as a discount on tuition fees and worth up to £5,000 for postgraduate courses. Recipients of these scholarships also gain access to exclusive scholarship-holder events that include specialist senior networking opportunities, enhancing both their academic and professional development. The scholarships are designed to support African students in achieving their educational aspirations while studying in one of the UK’s most beautiful coastal locations.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be classified as overseas fee payers (non-UK nationals)
- Be from an African country
- Have applied for and received an UNCONDITIONAL offer to study at Swansea University at Master’s level
- Be enrolled as a full-time student at the University
- Have been accepted into an eligible postgraduate programme:
- Eligible: MSc, MA, LLM, MRes (not the same as Masters by Research)
- Be required to pay course fees of £16,000 and above
- Demonstrate academic excellence in previous studies and be able to show what they will achieve at Swansea University
- Be self-funded
- Alumni are eligible to apply

Selection Criteria
The International Scholarship Committee undertakes a comprehensive and flexible evaluation process that emphasizes exceptional academic performance, clear potential for achievement and contribution, and the overall strength and completeness of the application materials, including academic transcripts and supporting documents. Eligibility requires confirmed international fee status as a student from an African country, enrollment in an approved postgraduate program, and verification of self-funded status without external sponsorship. Final scholarship recommendations are made at the sole discretion of the Committee, which may employ any assessment methods it deems appropriate to identify the most deserving candidates for award consideration.
