Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

Be a resident citizen of a member state of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries (Mauritian nationals are NOT eligible)
Must have already applied for a full-time on-campus program at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius for the academic year starting in 2026

For Diploma and Undergraduate Degree Programs:

Be above 18 years of age and not have reached 26th birthday by January 1, 2027
Hold appropriate secondary education qualifications for university admission

For MPhil, MPhil/PhD, and PhD Programs:

Be under 40 years of age by January 1, 2027
For PhD programs: Hold a first-class undergraduate degree from a recognized university OR an MPhil degree and meet the requirements of the awarding institution
For MPhil/PhD programs: Hold a recognized undergraduate degree with at least upper second class honors (or CGPA greater than 60%) and preferably a master’s degree, meeting the requirements of the Higher Education Institution

Language Requirements:

Proficiency in English or French (Mauritius is bilingual)
Language proficiency requirements vary by institution and program

Additional Requirements:

Strong academic records throughout previous studies
Good health status and vaccination requirements (vaccinated students are granted access to higher education institutions in Mauritius; medical exemptions require certified medical certificates)
