The McDonnell International Scholars Academy at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) is a distinguished graduate-level fellowship program founded in 2005 to cultivate a global community of emerging leaders. Scholars selected into the Academy receive generous financial support. Beyond financial aid, the Academy provides leadership training, mentorship, and immersive cohort experiences focused on global awareness, community service, and cross-cultural collaboration. It also serves as a bridge between WashU and its network of partner universities around the world, promoting international research cooperation and leadership development.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Applicants must submit an application to an eligible WashU doctoral or master’s degree program.
- Applicants must have earned or plan to earn a bachelor’s degree or higher before the end of the 2025-2026 academic year (July 2026)
- This fellowship is not available for undergraduate studies.
- Applicants from all domestic and international institutions are welcome to apply. Priority is given to international graduate candidates who are graduates of one of the 30+ partner universities.
