The Lucy Cavendish-City University of Hong Kong Scholarships is an exciting five-year scholarship programme launched by City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) in partnership with Lucy Cavendish College at the University of Cambridge. This is the first of its kind for universities in Hong Kong, aiming to attract the brightest masters degree students from CityUHK and worldwide to study at the University of Cambridge.
The programme, funded by a generous donation from CityUHK, will enable up to 20 students per year to study at Lucy Cavendish College, commencing in autumn 2025. Lucy Cavendish College is one of the University of Cambridge’s graduate colleges, known for its diverse, international, and intellectually vibrant community of scholars. Founded in 1209, the University of Cambridge is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious universities, consistently ranked among the top institutions globally. The collaboration also includes CityUHK becoming the first international partner of the Future Global Leaders Programme launched by Lucy Cavendish College. This programme equips students with the knowledge of sustainability and leadership skill needed to address pressing global issues.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be applying for a full-time one-year Master’s programme at the University of Cambridge
- Apply for programmes including Law, excluding Business
- Select Lucy Cavendish College as first-choice college when applying to the University
- Receive an offer of College membership by April 30
- Demonstrate exceptional academic performance with excellent undergraduate results
- Show strong potential for success in graduate studies
- Meet the University of Cambridge’s standard admission requirements for the chosen master’s program
- Demonstrate commitment to sustainability and global leadership
- Be willing to become a member of Lucy Cavendish College upon taking up the scholarship

Selection Criteria
The selection committee conducts a holistic evaluation of applicants based on several key criteria: academic excellence, demonstrated through an outstanding undergraduate record and strong grades; academic potential, reflecting the ability to excel in graduate-level studies at Cambridge; leadership potential, evidenced by a track record of initiative and a commitment to creating positive global impact; commitment to sustainability, shown through interest in addressing urgent global and environmental challenges; and the quality of the application, including well-defined research interests, a compelling personal statement, and strong academic references. Candidates must also list Lucy Cavendish College as their first choice and secure college membership by April 30.
