The PhD Graduate Assistantship in Quantitative Fisheries 2026 is an exciting fully funded research opportunity at the University of Florida offered by Dr. Edward Camp in the Program of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences within the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences. The University of Florida, established in 1853 and located in Gainesville, is a prestigious public land-grant research university consistently ranked among the top 10 public universities in the United States and recognized for its exceptional programs in natural resources, ecology, and environmental sciences.
This assistantship is funded through an innovative interdisciplinary project that integrates biological, ecological, socioeconomic, and model-based approaches to understand the consequences of changing marine fishery systems on fishers and fisheries management. The PhD student will specifically study shifts in fish species availability and subsequent fisher responses to such shifts through quantitative analyses of existing fisheries-dependent and independent data from federal and state agencies.
