The 2026/27 LSHTM Fund Scholarship at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is designed to support outstanding international students from low to middle income countries who would otherwise be unable to fund their postgraduate studies. Funded through the generous donations of LSHTM alumni and friends, this fully funded scholarship covers full tuition fees, including mandatory field trip costs, and provides a living allowance of £22,000 for the year. Through this initiative, LSHTM continues its longstanding commitment to developing the next generation of global health leaders and ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented individuals from contributing to public and global health.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be a national of, and resident in, a low to middle income country as defined by the World Bank
  • Must intend to return to a low to middle income country upon completion of their MSc year at LSHTM
  • Must confirm in writing that they would not otherwise be able to pay for the proposed programme of study without this scholarship
  • Must hold a first-class or upper second-class honours undergraduate degree from a UK university, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard
  • Must hold an offer of admission for the 2026/27 academic year for one of LSHTM’s London-based intensive MSc programmes of study
  • Must meet LSHTM’s minimum English language requirements by Monday 15 June 2026 — failure to do so may result in the scholarship offer being withdrawn

Selection Criteria

Qualified students for the Scholarship will be selected based on a combination of academic background, relevant experience, and future potential, with particular focus on those who demonstrate the greatest capacity to accelerate their careers and make significant contributions to public and global health, and/or health-related research in a low to middle income country following their year of study at LSHTM.
