The 2026 Mastercard Foundation ASU Graduate Certificate Scholarships are a fully funded online opportunity offered through a strategic partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Arizona State University (ASU). Designed specifically for young African professionals, the programme offers flexible, self-paced graduate certificates in two high-demand fields — Supply Chain Management and Global Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation — with full tuition coverage and no out-of-pocket costs.
Beyond the certificate, participants who successfully complete the programme are automatically entered into consideration for fully funded Master’s degree scholarships at ASU, making this an incredible potential gateway to a complete graduate education. A strong expectation of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is that scholars return to their home countries upon completion and use their skills to drive social and economic growth in their communities. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be a citizen of an African country, aged between 18 and 33 years
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree or be on course to receive one (previously by July 2025 — check current cycle requirements)
- Must not have started or completed any other graduate or Master’s degree prior to the programme start date
- Must demonstrate a commitment to ethical leadership and active engagement in their community
- Must meet ASU’s standard admissions requirements for the relevant graduate certificate programme
- Must select only one programme to apply for (Supply Chain Management or Global Management, Entrepreneurship & Innovation)

Selection Criteria
Candidates for the Mastercard Foundation ASU Graduate Certificate Scholarships will be evaluated based on the overall strength of their application, with particular attention given to demonstrated academic excellence, proven leadership ability, and active community engagement in their home country. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to participate in interviews conducted via video or phone call, after which final scholarship decisions will be made. Successful candidates are expected to show clear alignment with the Mastercard Foundation’s mission of economic and social transformation in Africa, and must be able to articulate how the skills gained through the certificate programme will be applied upon their return home.
