Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT) offers three major scholarship programs to attract outstanding international students: the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC – fully funded), the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship, and the CQUPT President Scholarship. The Chinese Government Scholarship provides comprehensive support including full tuition waiver, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and monthly stipends of 2,500 RMB for bachelor’s students, 3,000 RMB for master’s students, and 3,500 RMB for PhD students.
Founded in 1950 as the Chongqing Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, CQUPT is a prominent public university in China’s fourth municipality—Chongqing—and was among the first 10 institutions in Sichuan Province authorized to offer postgraduate programs in 1965. The university is recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in the information industry, communications technology, and telecommunications fields. CQUPT’s modern campus covers 730 acres and serves over 24,000 students including more than 4,000 postgraduates, with a faculty of over 1,600 including renowned experts and fellows from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and international institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health.
- The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:
- be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master programs;
- be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs.
- Applicants should not be holding any other scholarship provided by Chinese government.

Selection Criteria
CQUPT scholarship selection emphasizes academic excellence, program fit, and potential for success. Applications are evaluated based on academic transcripts showing strong performance in previous studies, quality of study plans or research proposals (master’s candidates: minimum 1,000 words; doctoral candidates: minimum 1,500 words) demonstrating clear research objectives and methodology, recommendation letters from professors attesting to academic abilities and character (required for postgraduate programs), language proficiency appropriate for chosen program, and overall application completeness and quality. The Chinese Government Scholarship selection process is managed jointly by CQUPT and the China Scholarship Council, with priority given to students showing exceptional academic promise and commitment to their field.
