Selection Criteria

Selection for Program research positions is conducted by individual faculty supervisors in collaboration with the Graduate Program Director and the Trent University Graduate Studies office. Applications are evaluated based on multiple criteria including academic excellence demonstrated through undergraduate grades, relevant coursework, and academic transcripts; research experience and demonstrated ability to conduct independent research, including previous laboratory work, field work, or undergraduate research projects; alignment between the student’s research interests and the faculty supervisor’s research program and available funding opportunities; quality of the application materials including statement of research interests, curriculum vitae, and writing samples.
