Selection Criteria

UAEU Graduate Scholarships are awarded through a competitive, merit-based process administered by the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) in coordination with individual academic colleges and departments. The primary criterion for selection is outstanding academic achievement — applicants are assessed on the strength of their undergraduate (and, for PhD candidates, their Master’s) academic record, including cumulative GPA, institutional reputation, and the rigour of their previous studies. Research potential and alignment of the proposed area of study with UAEU’s strategic research priorities particularly in fields such as renewable energy, STEM, health sciences, space research, and technology also carry significant weight in the evaluation, especially for research-based PhD fellowships where applicants are expected to contribute meaningfully to ongoing faculty-led research projects.
