The Loughborough Development Trust Africa Scholarship is a prestigious, fully funded tuition award offered by Loughborough University to support exceptionally talented students from across the African continent who wish to pursue a postgraduate taught Master’s degree at one of the UK’s top universities in September 2026. Funded through a combination of generous external support from the Loughborough Development Trust and University funds, the scholarship covers 100% of the course fees for the chosen postgraduate taught programme for one year replacing any departmental or University scholarships or bursaries the recipient may have previously been awarded.
Loughborough University is one of the United Kingdom’s most highly regarded and consistently top-ranked universities, celebrated for the outstanding quality of its research, teaching, and student experience across a wide range of disciplines from engineering, science, and technology to business, social sciences, sports science, design, and the arts. Ranked consistently in the top 10 in the UK in major national league tables, Loughborough has built a global reputation for producing graduates of exceptional quality who go on to lead in industry, academia, government, and the third sector worldwide.

Selection Criteria
The Loughborough Development Trust Africa Scholarship selection process is an open competition conducted in two stages by the University’s Global Engagement team and a senior selection panel of University staff. In the first stage, all submitted applications are reviewed and shortlisted against the eligibility criteria in particular, African domicile, possession of a valid Loughborough offer, and the completeness of the application form. Only candidates who fully satisfy all stated eligibility requirements progress to the second stage. Given that the standards required are explicitly described as very high and that only a limited number of awards are made annually, competition is intense and a strong academic profile is considered the minimum threshold for advancement.
