The Padua International Excellence Scholarship is one of Italy’s most prestigious and competitive merit-based international scholarship programmes, offered by the University of Padua one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in the world, founded in 1222 to attract the most talented and high-achieving international students from across the globe to pursue fully-funded English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes at its historic Padua campus. For the 2026/27 academic year, the university is offering up to 68 scholarships covering full tuition fee waivers plus a generous annual allowance of €8,000 (gross) per academic year, paid in two instalments of €4,000 each with the only costs borne by scholarship recipients being the annual admission fee, which corresponds to the regional tax and the Italian revenue stamp (marca da bollo).

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be an international student — Italian citizens are not eligible, with the exception of dual citizens where the second nationality is non-Italian
- Must not be residing in Italy at the time of application
- Must hold a non-Italian upper secondary school diploma qualifying for admission to the Italian university system (for Bachelor’s and Single-Cycle degree applicants)
- Must hold a non-Italian Bachelor’s degree qualifying for admission to the Italian university system (for Master’s degree applicants)
- Must apply for one or more English-taught Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes at the University of Padua following the official procedures and within the stated deadlines — applications may be submitted for up to three programmes
- No separate scholarship application is required; eligible applicants are automatically considered for the award upon submitting a complete and valid degree programme application
- Must be applying to an English-taught programme offered by the University of Padua — all eligible programmes are listed in the Call for Applications
- Must not be a beneficiary of other grants at the time of scholarship acceptance
- Must be able to comply with the conditions required to finalise enrolment at the University of Padua

Selection Criteria
The Academic Comittee of each degree programme shortlists eligible applicants and awards the most deserving candidates the scholarships, based on academic excellence in their field of study, quality, and records from their prior learning.
Scholarships are reserved for candidates applying for the first application period; on an exceptional basis, the Academic Committees may decide to award the scholarship to eligible candidates of the second application period.
