All applicants who indicate interest in financial aid during their admissions application and submit by the financial aid deadline of February 4, 2026 are automatically considered for the full range of CEU scholarships available at their level.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Open to all international students of any nationality applying to Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programmes at Central European University
- Must submit a complete admissions application including all required and pay the EUR 30 application fee
- Must indicate interest in financial aid by completing the Funding section of the CEU online application form
- Must apply by the financial aid deadline to be considered for scholarships; applications submitted after this deadline may still be admitted but will not be considered for CEU financial aid
- For Bachelor’s programmes: must hold a high school diploma with an excellent academic record
- For Master’s programmes: must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognised institution
- For Doctoral programmes: must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent (unless otherwise permitted by the department); doctoral applicants applying by the financial aid deadline are automatically considered for the CEU Doctoral Scholarship
- Must meet English language proficiency requirements through TOEFL, IELTS, or other accepted standardised test, unless exempt based on prior education language of instruction
- Must meet all programme-specific requirements including any additional tests, writing samples, portfolios, or interviews required by the relevant academic department

Selection Criteria
CEU’s scholarship selection is fully integrated into the admissions process and operates through a two-stage academic evaluation framework. In the first stage, applications submitted by the financial aid deadline undergo a formal review by the Admissions Office, which checks all documents for completeness and compliance with general and programme-specific entry requirements applications that fail to meet these requirements are rejected at this stage. Applications that pass the formal review are forwarded to the relevant academic departments, which evaluate and rank all eligible candidates on the basis of academic merit.
