The DAAD MIDE Scholarship is a fully funded postgraduate scholarship offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under its EPOS Development-Related Postgraduate Courses programme, supporting talented students from developing and newly industrialised countries to pursue the Master of International and Development Economics (MIDE) at HTW Berlin University of Applied Sciences. The scholarship covers the full programme service fee of approximately €2,500, a monthly stipend of €934, travel allowance, health, accident and personal liability insurance, and monthly rent subsidy and family allowance under certain circumstances. Applications for both the MIDE programme and the DAAD scholarship are submitted together through the HTW Berlin online application portal, with no application fee required and no application via Uni-Assist necessary.
HTW Berlin, established in 1874, is the largest public University of Applied Sciences in Berlin and Eastern Germany, with over 15,000 national and international students, known for its strong practice-oriented approach and high academic standards across engineering, economics, computing, and design. The MIDE programme is offered by the Faculty of Economics and Law and is specifically designed for future development economists, policy professionals, and practitioners from emerging economies who wish to build high-impact careers in international organisations, development agencies, ministries, central banks, and research institutions. Berlin itself is one of Europe’s most dynamic and culturally diverse cities, serving as a major hub for policy, economics, and international development, offering MIDE scholars an exceptional environment for academic and professional growth.
