Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be an international student who is not a US citizen, permanent resident, or holder of asylee or refugee status in the United States
  • Must enrol full-time at the University of Detroit Mercy in an eligible programme; American Language and Culture Programme (ALCP) classes do not count toward full-time enrolment status and are not eligible for any scholarship or discount
  • For freshman undergraduate scholarships: must be enrolling from a US high school or a foreign high school; students from foreign high schools must also pass the Detroit Mercy English proficiency requirement
  • For Canadian undergraduate freshman scholarships: must be a Canadian student enrolling full-time as a freshman
  • For transfer undergraduate grants: must have transferred from an accredited US or Canadian college or university (Canadian) or an accredited US college or foreign high school with at least 24 or more transferable credit hours or 36 or more transferable quarter hours; students from foreign colleges must pass the Detroit Mercy English proficiency test
  • All undergraduate scholarships and transfer grants are based on cumulative GPA and cannot be combined with any other university grant or discount
  • For the MBA half-tuition scholarship: must score 600 or above on the GMAT and submit qualifying scores to the Admissions Office; award applies only to business degree programmes and cannot be combined with other Detroit Mercy grants, scholarships, or tuition discounts
  • For graduate teaching or research assistantships: must be newly admitted and enrolled in the first term; awards are at the discretion of the academic department or college
