The University of Lincoln Africa Scholarship is a tuition fee discount award valued at £4,000 to £5,000, designed to help students from across Africa access postgraduate taught study at the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom. The scholarship is automatically awarded to eligible students during the first year of their studies — no separate application is required with the award amount determined by the classification of the applicant’s prior degree: a £5,000 discount is granted to those holding the equivalent of a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree or above, while a £4,000 discount is awarded to those holding at least a 2:2 equivalent. The scholarship is available for full-time postgraduate taught programmes commencing in September 2026 or January 2027, and eligible students may also qualify for an additional Early Payment Discount of £1,000 on their tuition fees.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be a national of, or hold permanent residence in, an African country (students who are nationals of or permanent residents in Egypt are directed to the separate Egypt Scholarship)
  • Must hold a Conditional or Unconditional Offer from the University of Lincoln for a full-time postgraduate taught programme commencing in September 2026 or January 2027
  • Must have completed a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution with at least the equivalent of a 2:2 classification, or a Pre-Master’s degree or qualification equivalent to a UK Master’s degree with a comparable classification as determined by the University — a 2:1 or above qualifies for the higher £5,000 award, while a 2:2 qualifies for the £4,000 award
  • Students joining via a Pre-Master’s programme are entitled to the scholarship upon progression to their main postgraduate taught programme
  • No separate scholarship application is required; eligibility is assessed automatically

Selection Criteria

The University of Lincoln Africa Scholarship is not awarded through a competitive selection process but is instead automatically granted to all eligible applicants based on two straightforward criteria: confirmed African nationality or permanent residency, and the classification of the applicant’s prior undergraduate or equivalent qualification  with a £5,000 award automatically given to those holding the equivalent of a 2:1 or above, and a £4,000 award granted to those holding at least a 2:2 equivalent, as assessed by the University; students must hold a valid Conditional or Unconditional Offer for a full-time postgraduate taught programme at the University of Lincoln starting in September 2026 or January 2027 for the award to be applied.
