The Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarship is a prestigious award offering up to two scholarships of NZ$30,000 each to support outstanding international students enrolling in the Master of International Business (MIntBus) at the University of Auckland, Waipapa Taumata Rau. Established in 2019 and jointly funded by the Hinrich Foundation a philanthropic organisation with a mission of promoting sustainable global trade and the Li Ka Shing Foundation, a Hong Kong-based charitable organisation, the scholarship reflects a shared commitment to developing the next generation of global trade leaders. Covering the full duration of the MIntBus programme, the scholarship is offered twice in total and is designed to encourage and financially support international students who are committed to building careers in international business and trade.
The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading research university, Waipapa Taumata Rau, and its Auckland Business School is one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most prestigious business faculties, holding AACSB, EQUIS, and AMBA triple accreditation a distinction achieved by fewer than 1% of business schools worldwide. The Master of International Business is a specialist postgraduate degree designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and global perspective needed to navigate and lead in the complex and rapidly evolving world of international trade and commerce.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be an international student (non-New Zealand citizen or permanent resident)
- Must be enrolling in the Master of International Business (MIntBus) at the University of Auckland
- Must apply online through the University of Auckland’s scholarship portal within the designated application window, which opens approximately six weeks before the closing date of April 1, 2026
- Must read the official scholarship regulations carefully before applying to confirm full eligibility
- The scholarship covers the full duration of the MIntBus programme

Selection Criteria
The Hinrich Foundation Global Trade Leader Scholarship is awarded through a competitive selection process in which a committee reviews all eligible applications submitted by the April 1, 2026 deadline, assessing candidates based on their academic achievement, their demonstrated commitment to and potential for leadership in international business and global trade, the strength of their personal statement and supporting materials, and their overall suitability to represent the values and mission of the Hinrich Foundation and the Li Ka Shing Foundation in developing sustainable global trade; with only up to two scholarships available in total, competition is highly selective and applicants are strongly encouraged to review the official regulations thoroughly and submit the most comprehensive application possible.
