The Georgia REACH Scholarship, officially known as the Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Scholarship, is a needs-based mentoring and scholarship programme administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission, designed to provide promising low-income students with the academic, social, and financial support needed to graduate from high school and achieve postsecondary success. The programme begins in the 8th grade and follows scholars through high school graduation, pairing them with mentors who provide guidance, knowledge, and support, while academic coaches monitor progress and help students develop education and career plans. Upon successful completion of all programme requirements, qualifying REACH Scholars are awarded a financial scholarship to be used towards the cost of attendance at a HOPE-eligible postsecondary institution in the state of Georgia.

At the University of Georgia, the REACH Scholarship is further enhanced through a “double match” scholarship offered to up to ten REACH Scholars per year for a period of four consecutive years or until the student graduates, whichever comes first. The University of Georgia also provides REACH Scholarship students with additional educational experiences through the REACH Scholars Programme under the Office for Student Success and Achievement, reinforcing UGA’s commitment to supporting students from underserved communities. The programme reflects the broader mission of ensuring that financial need does not prevent talented and hardworking students from accessing a high-quality university education and achieving long-term success.
