The John Thompson Scholarship is offered by DCU Business School in partnership with the family and friends of the late John Thompson, covering the full fees of one MSc Digital Marketing student annually. Established in 2008 to honour the memory of John Thompson, one of Ireland’s leading newspaper executives whose career spanning almost 30 years saw him play an instrumental role in the launch and commercial development of some of Ireland’s most successful publications including U Magazine, The Sunday World, and The Irish Farmers Journal, the scholarship aims to foster links between digital marketing and online journalism. It encourages graduates of business, journalism, and more diverse educational backgrounds to study digital marketing integrated with an appreciation of media and online journalism.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must have applied to the MSc Digital Marketing programme at DCU Business School
- Open to both EU and non-EU students
- Must have received an offer of admission to the MSc Digital Marketing programme before applying for the scholarship
- Students cannot be awarded more than one DCU Business School scholarship at a time

Selection Criteria
Applicants are assessed based on their submitted application materials including a CV, a statement of motivation and suitability for the scholarship of a maximum of 250 words, and a copy of their academic transcript or proof of final degree award, submitted to the Group Head for Marketing at DCU Business School via email at businessscholarships@dcu.ie.
