The University of Leicester International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship is a prestigious merit-based award worth £5,000 per year in tuition fee discount, offered to international fee-paying students applying for an undergraduate degree at the University of Leicester who achieve or exceed the academic grades outlined for their chosen course. The scholarship is automatically assessed, meaning there is no separate application required, and eligible students are notified of their award alongside or shortly after their admission decision. Students may hold only one University of Leicester scholarship at a time, with the higher value award applied where more than one scholarship is awarded, and the discount is calculated on the basis of the standard tuition fee for each year of study, excluding periods of industrial placement, overseas exchange, resit years, or suspension of studies.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following:
- Must be classified as an international student for tuition fee purposes
- Must be starting a full-time, campus-based undergraduate degree commencing in September 2026
- Must achieve or exceed the academic grades outlined for the chosen undergraduate course
- Must receive and accept an offer of admission and fulfil all conditions stated on the offer letter
- Most undergraduate courses qualify; however, Medicine, LLB Maitrise, STEM International Foundation, and all International Year 1 courses are excluded, unless the student is progressing onto an eligible degree from a pathway programme with an overall score of 70% or above
- The scholarship is not available for applicants domiciled in Thailand, who are instead considered for the Leicester-King Power Thai Scholarship
- Students may hold only one University of Leicester scholarship at a time
