Kyungpook National University (KNU) in Daegu, South Korea, offers a comprehensive range of scholarships for international students at both undergraduate and graduate levels. For graduate students, the flagship KNU International Graduate Scholarship (KINGS) provides tuition fee waivers of 100% or 50% to new and enrolled international graduate students, selected before the beginning of every semester. The Excellent KINGS scholarship provides full tuition fee coverage for the first semester to outstanding freshmen who are graduates of top-ranked universities or demonstrate strong language proficiency. The G-KNU Scholarship covers full tuition for full-time doctoral and integrated master’s and doctoral students enrolled in the full-time graduate student information system.

Benefits of the Scholarship
This scholarship will provide the following to its recipients:
- KINGS: 100% or 50% tuition fee waiver for up to 4 semesters for Master’s and Doctoral programs and up to 8 semesters for Combined Master’s and Doctoral programs
- Excellent KINGS: Full tuition fee waiver for the first semester for up to 30 selected freshmen
- G-KNU Scholarship: Full tuition coverage for doctoral students for up to 4 applications (2 years) and integrated master’s and doctoral students for up to 5 applications (2.5 years)
- TOPIK Scholarship for New Undergraduate Students: 20% tuition waiver for TOPIK Level 3, 40% for Level 4, 80% for Level 5 and 100% for Level 6 for the first semester
- Scholarship for completing 2 semesters of the KNU Korean Language Program: 20% tuition waiver for the first semester
- First semester dormitory room fee exemption (excluding meals) for eligible new students
- Academic Excellence Scholarship for enrolled undergraduate students: 80% tuition scholarship for the top 7% GPA and 20% scholarship for the top 8 to 37% GPA per college

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following:
- KINGS (New Students): Must be recommended by their department after screening and ranking
- KINGS (Enrolled Students): Must be international graduate students registered for the next semester who have received a grade of B0 or higher in the previous semester
- Excellent KINGS: Must be a freshman and meet at least one of the following conditions: be a graduate of a university ranked in the top 500 of the Times Higher Education or QS World University Rankings, be a KNU undergraduate advancing to a Master’s or Combined program with a GPA of B0 (3.0) or higher and a recommendation letter from a prospective advisor, or demonstrate strong language proficiency with TOPIK Level 6, TOEFL iBT 100, IELTS Academic 7.0, CEFR C1, or New TEPS 392 or higher
- G-KNU Scholarship: Must be a full-time doctoral or integrated master’s and doctoral student registered in the full-time graduate student information system. Integrated students must have completed at least 3 semesters, earned at least 24 credits (30 for the School of Business Administration) and maintained a GPA of 2.7 or higher. Excludes students who have completed their program, are on leave of absence, are GKS scholarship recipients or have received full tuition reimbursement from other scholarships
- TOPIK Scholarship for New Undergraduate Students: Must hold a valid TOPIK certificate at Level 3 or above
- TOPIK Scholarship for Enrolled Undergraduate Students: Must not hold a TOPIK certificate or hold only Level 3 at time of entry and must obtain Level 4 or higher within three semesters after entering KNU

Selection Criteria
For KINGS, new international students are recommended by their department after screening and ranking, while enrolled students must have achieved a grade of B0 or higher in the previous semester. For Excellent KINGS, selection is based on meeting at least one qualifying criterion covering university ranking, GPA and language proficiency. For the G-KNU Scholarship, eligible students apply after prepayment of tuition and are selected within the scope of the study period. For undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarships, selection is based on GPA ranking among all international students within each college, with the top 7% receiving an 80% scholarship and the top 8 to 37% receiving a 20% scholarship for the following semester.
