The Ecohydrology Lab at Kansas State University is seeking two graduate students (MS or PhD) to start in either Spring (January) 2027 or Fall (August) 2027. Research in the lab focuses on interactions between ecological and hydrological processes in grasslands, savannas, and shrublands. It combines plant ecophysiology, ecology, hydrology, and soil science to understand how vegetation shapes water movement and critical zone function under changing climate and land-use conditions. Projects can be tailored to student interests but should be relevant to at least one of three themes: subsurface impacts of land-use and land-cover change, plant water-use strategies and coexistence in water-limited ecosystems, or the drivers and consequences of preferential flow.
Kansas State University is located in Manhattan, Kansas, in the Flint Hills ecoregion of the Great Plains, with easy access to the Konza Prairie Biological Station. The lab aims to foster a fun, collaborative, and supportive environment where students can grow their research skills and build long-lasting networks of peers, collaborators, and mentors. The MS and PhD positions come with a stipend, tuition and university fee coverage, and access to a university-subsidized health insurance plan.
